A Night At The Theater...

Last night I went to the FALL ONE ACT PLAY FESTIVAL at UNLV with my friend Brooke. A friend of Brooke's wrote one of the one acts..and so we were able to get in free and enjoy the show.

So things start of smoothly...Brooke picks me up..we get to UNLV about a half hour early to get our tickets..get a nice seat in the front and middle..(mind you it's a really little theater..) ... and we enjoy the first act, titled, REPLICA. Now there were three acts and the only intermission we had was after the first act. So the first act gets over...and about 13 minutes in intermission, I decide I need to run to the restroom. So I kindly excuse myself and jet to the b-room. As I'm rushing to take care of business, I notice the girl... (I'm guessing a student).. who took tickets, closed the double doors into the theater...

...I take care of business then I rush to get back into the theater...and I go to open the first set of doors and L O C K E D ! ! ! ! ! So I'm thinking...this is ok...I will try the other set of double doors....I go to open them and L O C K E D !!!!!!

NOOOO!!!!!!

SO HERE I AM. BY MYSELF. LIKE A PUPPY IN THE POUND. LET ME INTO THE THEATER!!!! I'm knocking on the doors so loud and so much....

I had left my purse and cell phone at my seat inside the theater...and now...alone. All I have around me is a water fountain, old red UNLV dirty seats, and walls of plaques, framed newspaper cutouts, and the lights dimmed.

crap.

So my only option at the time was to read all the newpaper cutouts on the wall to pass the time. I was so annoyed. So I found myself reading a story of a dance teacher who used to be a showgirl. Hmm...interesting...then I proceed to read things I was only pretending to be interested in...to pass the time....I had at least an hour to kill.

Poor Brooke, she probably had no clue where I was...

A light bulb went off....

THERE MUST BE A WAY IN.

So...the mischevious side kicked in and I went on a hunt to find my way in. Not to mention I found a ticket on the ground, so I snatched it so just in case someone HAPPENED to open the doors, I would have a ticket to prove I had already been in.

I started to walk around...I found a door that said "AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY" ... what did I have to loose...so I opened it and it happened to be the doors to the stage...A ha! but I couldn't just waltz in!!!

So...I see some stairs...and...an open door! I pondered for a moment if I should open the door...what did I have to loose?..so I try to open the door and...it wasn't LOCKED...but what if people were in there?? What do I have to loose? So...I OPEN the door!!! And it was like the heavens OPENED!!! It was the mezzanine!!!! But...not just any mezzanine...it had no seats, just old lights and junk....but I could see the play!!!!

So there I was. Watching ME AND MY MAN-FISH. So happy. I saw Brooke, and the empty seat next to her, below me and was tempted to call her up, but I didn't want to disturb the play...so I sat, I mean stood, and watched the play from the BALCONY SEAT!! The second act finishes up.

But it's not over YET.

There was still the third act....and I wanted to go sit by Brooke.

I run downstaris and look at the "AUTHORIZED PERSONEL ONLY" door.

I had to do it. It was the only way.

I open it. I can hear people talking on stage.

AHHH there was a girl in there and she looked at me like I was crazy.

Me: "The doors are locked. Is there another way to get in?"

Girl: "Uhh...I don't think so. Did you try both sets of doors?"

Me: "Yeah, I tried everything"

Girl: ::hesitiating::

Me: "Can I just come in this way?"

Girl: "Well this goes out onto the stage"

Me: ::hands up like...I don't care...I want to get in:: (short for....::shrug::)

Girl: "Ok! Come through this way...just hurry!"

So there I was..peering onto the stage....then made a MAD DASH across the stage...

...down the stairs....and up some more stairs...crossed a few people in their seats....AND BACK TO MY SEAT!!!

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!

I then watched the third act in peace, with Brooke, until the end.

Phew....what... A... Night At The Theater!!

Better Late Than Never

Over Labor Day weekend I went to Mission Beach. It was SO MUCH FUN. There were 9 of us. We stayed at a beach house...walking distance from Mission Beach. To sum it up...there was lots of laughing...eating...beaching....here are a few pictures so you can get the idea.

OH AND....on one of the days there were a few of us kicking a soccer ball right near the water, and as most of you know, I am not too much of an athletic gal, but I was doing the best I could at kicking the ball. Usually just giggling a lot to cover my embarassement. So as soon as the ball would come near me, I would kick and either graze the sand and semi-stub my toe or kick the ball without any direction or air and the nearest person would have to run after the ball. So what I'm about to tell you is typical of me. So this time the ball was coming right at me...and I felt like I was going to get this one good....perfect amount of speed and everything...so I kick it and it was perfect!!! ONE THING... I had noticed these two guys walking through our circle, but didn't think much of it....but as I watch the ball SOOOAAAARRRR through the bright blue sky it is aimed perfectly at this innocent dude interfering in our circle, and of course...the ball gets PLANTED on this guys head PERFECTLY!!!! I'm talking from a movie. So what did I do?? I did not make eye contact, turned my back, and walked straight into the water. I was so embarassed/shocked of what just happened. Apparently, a friend who was right next to the guy apologized for me and said that the guy said a few choice words but just kept walking!!!! Yeah, we all had a good laugh!

HOBBIES.com

So lately when I start to get a little anxious/bored I have been doing one of two things....one is yoga and going to the gym... Did you know that I used to never be able to touch my toes? I always dreaded those days in P.E. where we had to do a full course examination where you see how many push ups, pull ups, how fast you can run a mile, and my worst...your flexibility...most girls could touch way passed their toes...me...i could reach my knees! Haha but I've been doing yoga for a few weeks and I can totally go way passed my toes!! I was always anti-working out...don't know why...I just was like that. I must have got nervous when I started to sweat or something. Anyway, it's my new favorite activity!

The second thing I have been doing is playing Super Nintendo. I mainly like Super Mario 3.

That's all!

Celebrity Look alike??

So the other day I was at Create. A gourmet Burger joint here in town. It's on Lake Mead and Tenaya...I highly recommend it. Anyway, as I was ordering my 'create-your-own' burger, the lady behing the counter just kept looking at me funny. As I was just about to tell her to take a picture, it will last longer...she says...

"You look like someone famous...
..I think her name is Rachel..
Rachel....I think her last name starts with a...
a W...."

That's all she gave me. I didn't have a clue who she was talking about. After asking a few friends, I figured out that it was this lady. Rachel Weisz.

Funny.

Ode to Stephanie

So it's Stephanie's birthday next week so I want to dedicate a blog for her. I copied and stole that picture from her blogger...ha! Well...let's start celebrating now!

Reasons why I love Stephanie...

- We always seem to find eachother and live together
- She loves to dance with me even though we dance really weird
- She is honest even though sometimes the truth is not really what you want to hear
- She is always right
- She loves her primary kids hopefully not more than me
- She will usually go out to eat with me when I want...
- We bond while watching reality tv like So You Think You Can Dance
- She is usually right on when it's elimination time on reality tv shows
- She is great to talk to when craving a real deep conversation
- She loves the gospel
- She is just like my mom...in more ways than one
- She can dish and scoop my dad's humor when we eat there for Sunday dinners ::roll eyes::
- She has weathered many storms
- I think it's kinda weird how much she loves pepperoni and soy sauce but it's okay, it's endearing...everyone needs a comfort food/sauce, right?
- I just can't get sick of her!
- She can relate anyone to a song
- She prints coupons so we can eat buy one get one free at Yogels
- She is a safe driver

NEW YORK!!!!

So last week I went to New York City. Deven and Shelley are there for an intership right now and also my Cari is there. The pictures will pretty much give you a good idea of the things we did. Mainly there was miles and miles of walking, lots of eating delicious food, and mega laughter. I had so much fun!!! Well worth every penny. Not to mention my mom and dad came toward the end and treated us to a few meals and took us to a concert...check out the pictures.....

Regis and Kelly's High Heel a Thon and here is one of the winners!

Shelley and I trying to get the naked cowboy in our pic without spending $2 to get one..haha...but this just didn't work..haha

Deven and I at this way good Mediterranean Resterant right before the National Air Guitar Championship!! WE WERE PUMPED!

Cari and I at the National Air Guitar Championship in Williamsburg. We love Shreddy Mercury!!!

Cari and I at WICKED. Highly Recommend. Please see it.

Waiting outside for brunch. I ate a waffle with vanilla battered chicken. Sounds weird, but delicious. Also, dad had to direct a huge semi so the top of the truck didn't rip a branch off of a tree...instead the tree won. It ripped off the back light of his truck. Sorry light. But BOOOOYAAA to the truck!!!!! Nature always wins.

On the train to see Joe Cocker and Steve Miller Band at Jones Beach Theater. The train was pretty empty. Somehow we found the 6 seats that faced eachother and just made it work, as you can see...

At the concert. With a little help from my friends. Thanks J Cocker.

Just being a monkey.

Cari and I in Little Italy with gelato. The vanilla was weird. It was ok...the other gelato place in Chelsea's Place was better.

"WHAAAT?!" - Kyle
